Six months ago, Chef Victor Matthews received an e-mail request from the
State Ag Dept. inquiring as to whether he would want to teach about American
Cuisine for a foreign seminar. As a follow up, two months later the State Dept
in Washington contacted him for additional information. Upon sending in a bio
and the solicited information, he soon learned that many chefs from around the
country were under consideration for something big.
5 weeks ago, a representative from Argentina contacted Chef Matthews to
inform him that he was a finalist. Over the last few years, Argentina has seen a
large increase in American Tourists as well as an increase in American Food. The
country is experiencing a bit of an American Cuisine revolution and was looking
for a US chef to come and represent a US delegation to help present the event.
Upon sending down sample menus and photos, Victor was chosen from among some of
the United States best and well known chefs.
The hotel Alvear Palace (http://www.alvearpalace.com)
in Argentina will soon host a culinary seminar to teach all the great chefs of
Latin America, North American Cuisine. The event will involve a cocktail banquet
for the American Ambassador, Embassy Staff, and Argentine Dignitaries; two
Master Classes at the greatest Culinary Institute in Latin America; Brunches and
Dinners at Latin America's Number One Hotel (5+ stars), three days of teaching
American food and organizational styles to the Number One Hotel's Staff, and a
Roof Top Party for Society Greats. Chef Matthews will represent the United
States during this amazing event.
Said Chef Matthews, "I am several steps beyond honored and proud. This is the
ultimate chance to build bridges between cultures, and use culinary arts to do
it."
